Description: Acrodus Curtus (partial shark fin spine) from the Jurassic period, of the Lower Lias, Obtusum Zone at Charmouth on the world famous Jurassic Coast of Dorset. This is a beautiful example with amazing preservation and museum level detailing. This includes serrated down the leading edge and striking lateral groves down its length from tip to base. a nice example which lies in a piece of belemnite marlstone. Such spines are not common at all as the process of fossilisation often means very little survives from a marine creature mostly made from cartilage, so this is a wonderful rare addition to any collection.
Dimensions: Length of the fin spine is 46mm long
